Hades II in 2026: a platform release is not a cross-save promise

The Xbox and PlayStation launch widened the platform list. Save transfer still needs its own check.

As of 30 September 2026. A game becoming available on another console does not necessarily mean your existing save can follow you there. Hades II’s 2026 platform expansion makes that distinction worth checking before you choose a second version.

The April release is already out

Supergiant’s 14 April announcement confirms the Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 launch. This is a released version, not an invitation to a forthcoming beta. The announcement also says its bonus content and quality-of-life additions reached the other versions in that day’s patch.

Read the exact cross-save group

The official FAQ, updated 14 April 2026, describes cross-saves between Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 and the Steam and Epic Games Store versions. It says transfers use an in-game menu and that cross-saves with other versions are unavailable because of technical limitations.

Do not turn that group into “every platform.” Nor does a supported transfer group by itself describe purchase entitlements. A careful plan records your starting version, destination version and the specific support statement connecting them.

A performance statement has a source

The console launch post advertises 120 frames per second on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. That is Supergiant’s published claim. We have not benchmarked these versions or measured how a particular display and settings combination behaves. The release announcement establishes what the developer said; it does not turn this guide into a hardware test.

Even a useful FAQ can contain an older answer

There is a practical reason to check the news beside the support page. The FAQ’s documentary answer says the studio was not then doing something like its earlier Noclip series. The newer 25 September anniversary post announces Developing Hell II, a multipart documentary, with its first episode available.

For that question, the later dated statement changes the answer. It does not automatically revise the separate cross-save section. Read updates by subject instead of assuming one fresh headline refreshes every sentence on every support page.

The useful question is a pair of versions

Before moving a save, write down both ends of the journey and consult the current official instructions for that pair. If your destination is absent from the supported group, ask support rather than improvising from a similar platform’s instructions.

For another case in which a broad product name hides an important distinction, read our guide to SteamOS stable and beta updates. No purchase, affiliate link or hands-on test is part of this article.

Reading notes and scope

Sources checked 30 September 2026. All three sources are Supergiant publications. The later documentary announcement explicitly resolves one older FAQ answer; it is not evidence that cross-save support changed. No gameplay, performance or popularity claims are independently tested.
