FC 27 Lite: the modes, platforms and limits to know
The free-to-download version has four selected modes. It does not include The Grounds, Ultimate Team or Manager Career.
As of 5 October 2026. EA SPORTS FC 27’s full-game advertising highlights several ways to play. FC 27 Lite offers a smaller selection. If you want a quick match, a career season or The Grounds, those are three different questions—and Lite does not answer all of them.
A launch preview, not the full game
EA’s editions and release-date FAQ describes Lite as a free-to-download limited preview, available from 25 September 2026. The launch announcement confirms that it arrived alongside the full game.
The useful starting point is your intended mode. An introduction to FC 27 can be enough for one player while missing the feature another came for. “Free to download” describes this version’s download price; it is not a promise that the full game, internet access or every platform service costs nothing.
Four selected modes—and clear omissions
The current EA Help guide lists the following selection:

EA explicitly excludes The Grounds, Ultimate Team and Manager Career from Lite. A full-game deep dive about one of those modes should not be mistaken for a list of Lite features.
Use the Lite platform list
The editions FAQ names PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC through the EA app, Steam and Epic Games Store for Lite’s launch. It does not name Nintendo Switch or Switch 2 in that Lite list. Elsewhere, the FAQ lists Nintendo platforms for the full game; those separate lists should not be combined.
Before choosing a download, check that its store listing actually identifies Lite and your intended platform. Similar game names are not evidence of matching features.
A local-style match still needs a connection
The launch announcement’s Lite footnote requires a persistent internet connection and an EA Account. EA Help makes the practical consequence explicit: the connection is required even for Kick-Off.
So a familiar match mode does not establish offline availability. EA also says Lite’s modes, features and content may vary by territory and time. Keep those conditions in mind when comparing the preview with a friend using another account or location.
Progress carries over under stated conditions
EA Help says Lite progress can carry over after upgrading when you use the same EA Account and the same platform. That statement should not be stretched into a promise of progress moving between different platforms.
A simple choice follows: Lite can introduce the documented match modes; it cannot replace a Manager Career or Ultimate Team purchase decision. Our FC 27 career update guide concerns a different part of the full game.
The official news index was checked today, with latest listed entries dated 2 October. This article explains the current launch-era Lite documentation; it does not announce an invented new patch. We have not tested Lite or compared its performance with the full version.
